Gray Scale Minimal Wall Art
When it comes to wall decor/ art I can be really afraid to commit. It could be due to a fear of damaging the wall that dates all the way back to when I was a kid and had made a "wall installation" of sorts of my favorite album art (two full walls, three nail holes each record). My parents weren't mad, but they were not pleased. As a result, I puttied each hole myself when it came time to paint my room again (which I did three times from ages 8-17) but that's another story.
Being that I am one to change my mind about a certain piece of decor, paint color, art piece, etc, I find it helpful to be able to make something really cool, really easily. So here is this; it requires little thought, prep, and supplies (am I missing the point of crafting? lol) and therefore requires little commitment.
Supplies:
- 1 piece of illustration paper
- black indian ink ( Winsor & Newton is fine)
- 1 shop rag
- plastic cup
- picture frame that fits your paper (optional)
Directions:
I am not joking when I say this is easy. Pour about 3 tablespoons worth of ink into a plastic cup and gently dip your shop rag into the ink. Starting from the top and working left to right with a heavy hand, wipe the ink onto the illustration paper, using a lighter touch as you go down the sheet. The idea is to start with a heavy amount of ink at the top and then finish with barely any at the bottom to create that ombre effect.
