Whiskey Sour // Weekend Cocktails No. 20
If you have never tried making a whiskey sour without using sour mix, I tell you, you're missing out. It isn't difficult if you don't mind squeezing citrus. It's the perfect balance of sweet and sour and it could quickly become your new drink.
Ingredients:
Makes one drink
- 2 oz bourbon whiskey
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1 whole lemon, juiced
- 1 whole lime, juiced
- maraschino cherries (I like two )
- splash of water (if you want)
1. For the simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water and heat over medium heat to dissolve the sugar. Allow it to cool before pouring it in your drink.
2. Squeeze the lemon and the lime into an old fashioned glass and combine with the syrup and bourbon and then top with as much ice as the glass can handle. Give it one good turn with a spoon.
3. Splash a bit of water over the top and garnish with however many cherries your heart desires.
