DIY // Spoon Butter
I prefer to use wooden butcher blocks and spoons in my kitchen. As a result of continuous use, they get dried out. This can be easily solved with spoon butter. It's a mix of pharmaceutical grade mineral oil and beeswax. The mineral oil moisturizes the wood and the beeswax puts a slightly waterproof protective layer on it (until you wash it again). Treat wooden tools and cutting boards once a week for best results.

Ingredients:
- 1 oz beeswax (can be found at health food stores and Amazon)
- 3 oz pharmaceutical grade mineral oil (you can find at Target, Walgreens, etc...)
- 1 jar for storage
Directions:
- If your beeswax is in a small block, cut it into small pieces before melting.
- Using a double boil method (heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water), melt the beeswax throughout.
- Add the mineral oil to the bowl - the beeswax will seize up so keep it over the heat until melted again.
- Pour the mixture in a jar. Allow to cool before use. The final product will have a butter-like consistency.
