Eating In // Roasted Figs with Honey

When Jon and I bought our house this spring, we inherited a really mature fig tree. The tree could be up to 50 years old for all that we know. This week was the first time that we had lots of nice ripe figs to harvest. They are delicious to eat raw but there are many other things to do with them to if you have a tree of your own. Megan and I roasted up some today with honey that my dad harvested in middle Georgia. It was really a nice treat. If you have some figs that you don't know what to do with, you should give this a shot! -Christina

Ingredients:

  • 10 figs ( or how ever many you have)
  • 1/4 cup of honey (or so)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

1. Set the oven onto broil. In the meantime, slice the figs in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.

2. Drizzle with honey and cinnamon. Broil for about 7 minutes until golden and caramelized. Serve with good cheese, ice cream, or greek yogurt.
