Sangria Bar // Weekend Cocktails No. 14

Ask anyone who I have spoken to recently and you will find out what my thoughts are about sangria. They might tell you things like:

"I hate sangria"

"It's just a dumb trick to cover up cheap wine"

"It's literally just JUICE and WINE"

While I did say all of those things and more, I am willing to admit I may have been more or less wrong. While yes, you do use cheap wine, and there is juice in it, it's actually kind of fun. It looks really pretty, provides libations for a large crowd at minimal cost to you. At your next gathering, just give sangria a shot and see if you don't like it.

For the white sangria:

  • 1, 1.5 liter bottle white wine (it matters little what type you choose)
  • 1, 64 oz bottle of lemonade ( trader joes has a good one)
  • 1 liter seltzer water
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 3 lemons, sliced
  • 3 limes, sliced
  • 2 grapefruit, sliced

For the red sangria:

  • 1, 1.5 liter bottle red wine (it matters little what type you choose)
  • 1, 64 oz bottle of cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 liter seltzer water
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 3 lemons, sliced
  • 3 limes, sliced
  • 2 grapefruit, sliced

Directions:

1. In two separate containers, add the ingredients for the red and the white sangria. Add only half of the fruit to the punch bowls and reserve the rest to set on the table for interactive fun!

For more instruction, check out the video we made. Have fun and make some sangria.
