Eating In // Mulberry Pie

Ladies and gentlemen, Mulberry season is upon us. I had never even tasted one of these berries until the other day. They are so tasty. We picked them wild and I made a pie. My boss let me use her camera and snap some shots (except for the pie picture...she took that one). It was loads of fun and I would recommend hunting some woods and green ways to find these fruits. Here is my recipe for Mulberry pie.

The Goods:

  • 3 tbls. butter
  • 3 cups wild mulberries
  • 1-1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 pie crusts ( one for the top, one for the bottom)*

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix the mulberries, sugar, and flour in a bowl. Dump the mixture into a prepared pie plate. Dot with butter and place the other crust on top.

2. Bake the pie for 15 minutes at 400 and then lower the temperature to 350 and bake for another 30 minutes.

* you can use store bought, if you choose. I used this recipe and it was killer
